85 new accomplishments - new york, roast pork, what the fork..

Life is full of little achievements and I guess we spend so much time waiting for them that when they come they are pleasant little bundles of joy. Today I completed 3 things that I have never done before in my life, which I consider to be rather outstanding things on the checklist, but it's been such a chaotic and mare-ish day that only now can I sit down and reflect on these things.

1. Year off = win. Booked flights to New York!! A one way ticket in fact. This morning was veeery stressful, almost comparable to when NOM was being made and my Mum shouts "I'm so stressed!!!!" and we were all so freaked out and in the moment...  Thankfully the travel agent looked after us well, it was an epic start to the day, even if I was an hour and a half late for work. Concrete jungle where dreams are made of, bitchesss.

2. Made crispy roast pork belly for dinner. I tell you it doesn't get much better than this :) This recipe is from Chubby Hubby a fantastic food blog which makes me drool. I just had to try this recipe! Obviously there are a mill and one roast pork recipes spamming the net, 99% dodgey, even Raymond said no recipe for roast pork is ever fail-safe, but I have gained quite a lot of respect and trust in this goodie! The meat turned out juicy and tender and not dry at all, with deeelicious flavour. The crackling sounded like the McCain crunchy chip ads but FO REALZ yo. Nuff said, party at mine.

3. Completed making a pleated skirt! Just to make my life ridiculously difficult, 1) it is chiffon 2) it is floor length 3) it is hand pleated with no Perfect Pleater :( I like to say that I intentionally only wanted to pleat a panel and not the whole thing, even though my guilty conscience (aka the aformentioned) tells me otherwise. I'll post some better photos later.

And thus ends the day of good travel, good food, and good clothes. I am ex-haus-ted!
