126 zippora // shakuhachi spring summer 11-12

I've always thought Shakuhachi were a bit amazingly crazy. I wasn't suuuch a big fan of their last collection for winter but I guess that's just what you get when you're amazingly crazy, and with that comes respect.

HOWEVER. Bigger things are on the horizon. They have toned down the wack. Shakuhachi's spring summer collection for next year has got me wanting big beaches and pool parties while still channeling the hippie girl which they do only too well. It's a bit too good to be true - inspired by famed Hollywood photographer Slim Aarons, the pieces are all very 60s and 70s. There is quite a lot in there - of course hippie, of course sheer laces, bigger than big lounge pants, a reasonably neutral palette with a bright pop of teal, and they have even delved into swimwear. I love the bodice bikini set, and those chunky diamond heels in the first photo and throughout are A-mazing! I love how carelessly Flintstones they are while still getting blingfactor high and a touch of tacky in the bestest kind of way. All of this greatness is exponentially complimented by Zippora Seven and those bright tangerine lips. This is gonna be insane.

125 burberry makes it rain from runway to campaign

After seeing this amazing image from Burberry's Fall 2011 runway I could not wait for more.

burberry-finale

So here is some more from their recent April Showers campaign. Serious block colours/translucent plastic trench coats (fluro poncho FTW!)  and some more rain that them English can't get enough of. I love the crisp white bottoms which refuse to get dirty and the blasts of sunshine that seem to make the rain look more like an elegant snow shower rather than a doomy winters day.

124 noob in an ad

hehelulzzzwtf Spot my brother in this ad his company made for a television network in Singapore - he got 2 seconds but slowmo'd down to 5, I would have that expression too if I was watching a fella dropping his dumpling :O !!! Pretty awesome ad.

123 furry top for ash

The most delectable and haptic material - literal warm fuzzies to fight the cold that is setting in. I made this jumper/long sleeve top for Ash - it features a drop shoulder and fitted lower arm. Perfect for winter snuggling. Thanks so much Ruby for the fabric! It is a lovely cream fur material - with embossed three dimensional polka dots!

122 details in my mind

I hated architectural details. So boring/lame/difficult/unnecessary. But so necessary too, and funnily enough clothing details really stand out for me as a point of difference. I guess they do make or break the garment. As they would the house. These are a collection of images I've been thinking about for a while.

119 women on bikes

Vicky Spinassi

There's just something so alluring and nostalgic about a well dressed woman riding a bicycle (esp a bicycle with a basket at the front). She's almost like a good girl gone bad gone good again. In the hazy ven diagram overlap between bikes and well dressed women, Kate Spade has collaborated with vintage bike boutique Adeline Adeline to produce a beautifully crafted bicycle "perfect for tootling around town in". "We wanted a bike that was comfortable and lightweight and that you could wear a dress and high heels on". It just seems so perfecct. Here is the vid, the song is addictive! See more on this exclusive interview here.

116 catholic school girls rule

The Apple of my Eye is a beautiful editorial by Liz Ham in the latest Helmut, featuring three New Zealand girls making it big time overseas - Zippora Seven, Grace Hollows and Georgia Fowler, and American chick Jenny Sweeny. Apple bobbing, egg and spoon races, tug of war, sack racing, and general old fashioned frolicking in beautiful crisp white pieces (who knew they could stay so white) including Lonely by Lonely Hearts.

115 fun punch

Love Ella and love these new pieces in at Topshop. (Apart from the shoes... maybe they will grow on me but they just remind me of braiding My Little Pony manes or something...) This raincoat is Fantastic! How could rain be downbuzz if you're wearing it??? I can't wait to find a shearling leather jacket in New York and also all about cargo at the moment. I've been craving to making all things camo... Hopefully the Topshop show tonight will be as fantastic!
